Road Design
Precision geometry. Engineered for Mongolia's terrain.
KHZT's road design practice covers the full spectrum of highway and road engineering — from initial alignment studies through to final construction documentation. We apply international geometric design standards while accounting for Mongolia's specific challenges: extreme temperature cycles, permafrost zones, heavy freight corridors, and remote construction environments. Our designs are produced in AutoCAD Civil 3D and fully coordinated with drainage, structures, and utility disciplines.
Deliverables
What we deliver
Geometric Alignment Design
Horizontal and vertical alignment optimized for design speed, terrain, and sight distance requirements.
Pavement Design
Structural pavement design using AASHTO methodology, calibrated for Mongolian axle loads and climate conditions.
Drainage Systems
Surface and subsurface drainage design including culverts, channels, and permafrost-sensitive drainage solutions.
Construction Documentation
Complete drawing sets, specifications, and bill of quantities ready for procurement and construction.
Interchange & Intersection Design
Grade-separated interchanges and at-grade intersections designed to handle projected traffic volumes safely.
BIM Coordination
Civil 3D models coordinated across road, drainage, structures, and utilities disciplines.
Process
How we work
Corridor Study
Alternative route corridors are evaluated against terrain, cost, environment, and community impact.
Preliminary Design
Preferred alignment developed to concept level with key parameters confirmed for client approval.
Detailed Design
Full engineering drawings produced and coordinated with all disciplines to construction-ready standard.
Construction Support
Designer's site visits, RFI responses, and design variations managed through construction phase.
